Post doctor position in Chemistry within "molecular dynamics simulations" (Application deadline: 22. May)
Little is known about the precise molecular interactions that control the stability of gas hydrates, in particular the effect of additives like glycol, salts, fluoroalkanes, and tetrahydrofuran which may have an enormous effect on the stability. It is planned to conduct molecular simulations (Molecular Dynamics, Monte Carlo) using classical force fields to investigate the thermodynamic stability of various gas hydrate structures that contain methane, CO2 and some of the additives mentioned above.
We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher with a PhD in physics, chemistry or engineering and with a solid background in molecular simulation and (statistical) thermodynamics. The duration of the project will be 3 years, and the right person can start on short notice.
PhD Research fellowship position at Department of Electric Power Engineering within “Ageing and Failure Mechanisms in Subsea High Voltage Insulation Systems” – IME-035-2008 (Application deadline: 30. May)
The Research fellowship is part of a large project entitled “Electric Power Systems for Subsea Processing and Transportation of Oil and Gas”, organized by SINTEF Energy Research in co-operation with oil companies, industries and the Research council of Norway. The main objective is to examine degradation mechanisms that can come into action at high temperature and high hydrostatic water pressure.
Ph.D position in the area Steel for Arctic Applications (Application deadline: 30.05.08)
Steel alloys are by far the most commonly used metals in oil and gas production installations, and in cold environments, many low-alloy steels become brittle. The aim of the PhD project is to achieve knowledge on mechanisms and microstructures that affect the ductile-to-brittle transition of steels for arctic applications. We seek a candidate with an MSc or equivalent degree in materials science , physics or chemistry. Previous experience with steels and electronoptical techniques, especially transmission electron microscopy, is desirable.
Research Grant for a PhD Candidate in "Metal Hydrides" at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) (Application deadline: 30. May)
The PhD project is an integrated part of the NFR financed project "An Integrated Process for Hydrogen production and Separation", managed by StatoilHydro, and which objectives are in accordance with future visions and strategies for the development of Norwegian hydrogen based energy systems. The candidate who receives the fellowship is expected to fulfil the requirements for a PhD degree at NTNU during the period of the grant.
PhD research fellowship in the field of “Nonlinear elastic waves for estimation of properties of technical and geologic materials” (Application deadline: June 1st)
The Department of Petroleum Engineering and Applied Geophysics announces one vacant PhD fellowship in the field of "Estimation of material and reservoir properties with nonlinear ultrasound". The fellowship is financed by the PETROMAKS program of the Research Council of Norway.
